Going South for diving!

Akira took today’s diver all the way south of the Okinawa Main Island, because of the strong wind from North.
It was a long way of driving, but worth it!

Diving at Gorilla Chop!

Because of very strong wind from north, Swift did not go out… Akira and today’s diver headed north to Nago to have shore diving.

Advanced Diver Course in the Kerama!

We had a student finishing up his Advanced Open Water Course, today.
It was warm and very nice weather condition for going out to dive the Kerama Dive sites.

After enjoying thousands of colorful fish swimming around in Nozaki, we moved to Toma, where we found some big moray eels, nemo, and garden eels.

We saw two Whales! – Kerama Dive Trip

Today, we had an international team of divers on our boat again.

The sun came out today, which made our surface interval warm and nice.
We had a diver working on his Advanced Open Water certification, one trying DPV (Diver Propulsion Vehicle – Underwater Scooter) Speciality, and a group of researchers from OIST in Onna Village enjoying their weekend diving.

As a PADI 5 Star Dive Center, we can provide a variety of certification courses. Underwater Scooter is one of the popular ones. We will be starting our Enriched Air Course (for Nitrox diving) soon!

We saw two humpback whales on the way to the Keramas! They were a little shy – they went back down in the water and didn’t let us take a picture…

Nice day of diving – Keramas

Hi Miho’s here.
Today, we took our boat to the Kerama Islands.
The ocean was very calm, which made our one-hour boat ride very smooth. On the way there, some other boat seemed like watching whales, so we stopped as well, but the whales dove down deep, so we couldn’t see them.
We had Cameron from Tokyo, diving with me.
Naoki and Naoji had three more dives also from Tokyo area, doing their deep dive speciality courses.

The visibility in the water was very good – usually it gets better in winter.
After two dives at the Kerama Islands, we headed back to the Okinawa Main Island, to dive the Marina 225.

We had quite a bit of dive sites today- from a good viz ‘wide’ dive at Kuroshima, ‘macro’ dive at beautiful white sand Toma, and Marina 225 with a huge table coral and healthy reef by the Main Island.

Good dives in the Keramas!

The wind calmed down a lot – we went to Kerama Islands for diving trip today!

Today, we had Roger from Australia.
He used to be a NAUI Instructor, teaching at the ocean around Sydney.
He is 69 years old now – he has been diving 20 years before I was born!! Oh my god, I can’t even imagine how the diving was that long time ago…..
The picture is a pink leaf fish at my favorite rock at Toma. We used to see white ones here until last summer, and all of a sudden we only see this pink one. Leaf fish shouldn’t change their colors according to where they live. Then, this one is different from the ones we used to see? Hmmm…
At Kuroshima South, we enjoyed the very healthy reef and dynamic landscapes.
The coral in the picture is Pocillopora damicornis.
Usually, if you look close, you can find coral crabs hiding in there, or some gobies.
We saw many fisiliers, tunas, macros, and purple queens swimming around.
Tomorrow should be another good day for taking a trip to the Kerama Islands. The wind and waves will calm down a lot.
Maybe we can see whales!

Photo Dives – Okinawa Scuba Diving

Hi Miho’s here.
Today, I went out diving with Naoki and Naoji to explore our dive spot , Inanbishi to practice underwater photo shooting.
The one above is by Naoji – it’s a silhouette of a whip coral goby. They are tiny, like 3cm long.
You can find many whip corals and sea pens here.
They have tiny shrimps or gobies living on them.  Don’t forget to go close and find them!

This one is by me… Not so good.
It’s a pigmy sea dragon.
It moves in between a couple of rocks to live on, but usually easy for us to find it. But very hard to take a picture – especially it was surgy today.
Here is another interesting picture – can you tell what it is?
 
Be careful, they are very poisonous – this is why you don’t want to tough anything in the ocean, including stones….
